It Took Me Ten Years to Write Musical Awakening — Here's the Timeline πŸ“–πŸ’–πŸŽΆ

Musical Awakening didn't start as a novel.

It started as a letter I never sent.

14 Years of Blogging — To Whom It May Concern πŸ’–

On July 27, 2012, I published my first blog post on The Nerdy Girlie.

I had no idea what I was doing. I just knew I had things to share and nowhere to share them.

Fourteen years later I'm sitting here with a stack of 30 signed copies of my debut novel on my kitchen counter, heading to San Diego Comic Con in less than two weeks, and I genuinely cannot believe the road that got me here.

So let's talk about it.

The Book Review That Shook Me To The Core πŸ“–πŸ˜±

I have been writing on this blog since 2012.

Fourteen years of blog posts, concert recaps, dating stories, coffee shop confessions, Five Fandom Friday lists, and late night tweets about music that meant so much to me. Fourteen years of putting words out into the world and hoping someone somewhere felt less alone because of them.

What I didn't always know was who was reading.

11 years of 100 Cups of Coffee ✌πŸΌπŸ’–☕

Eleven years ago today, I started something called 100 Cups of Coffee as a fun Futurama fan project…#futuramaforever πŸš€

At the time, I didn't know it would change my life.

I was standing at the beginning of a chapter I never planned for.

Everything felt uncertain, and I could have chosen to hide and cry (there was a lot of that). Instead, I decided to start a beginning. Knowing that my life wasn't over...it was just changing.

One cup became another.

And somewhere along the way, this project became a place where I could write honestly about rebuilding, growing, and figuring out who I was becoming.

Eleven years later, 100 Cups of Coffee has grown into so much more than I ever imagined!

My Self Publishing Journey Starts Here πŸ“–

πŸ“–πŸŽΆ PURCHASE MUSICAL AWAKENING HERE! πŸ“–πŸŽΆ

I just finished, Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert, and it completely inspired me to go back to one of my old manuscripts.

100 Cups of Coffee is done and I’m feeling pulled back into a project I started in late 2014: Musical Awakening

I stopped working on it in 2015 when 100 Cups of Coffee took over and honestly, that made it really easy to walk away.

But this past week I opened it again and…
I don’t hate it. LOL.

And like Elizabeth Gilbert says:

"Done is better than good."

So that’s the plan, finish it. My goal is two weeks. To re-read, re-edit and add to it.

Because let’s be real:
a lot of people start things…
very few actually finish them.

So I’m finishing this one and self publishing it. Click here to read a sneak peak!

Running Through Change, Part 1 πŸƒπŸ»‍♀️

πŸ‘‰ New here? Start here → 100cupsofcoffee

No one tells you what to do
during a hard chapter. When you're left with yourself and everything you just went through.

Through my divorce, is where I found running. As a way to slowly find my way back to myself and redistribute the pain from my heart down through my legs and out of my mind.

Going Back to Comic-Con in My 40s (How I've Changed) ✨

I didn’t expect to come back to an old version of myself.

Not in my 40s.
Not after everything that’s happened.

But here I am,
curled up with Simon, coffee in hand,
fully invested in Fringe like it’s 2008 again!

#100cupsofcoffee // mr. little πŸƒπŸ»

100 Cups Of Coffee is my journey through divorce, dating & self-discovery.

My single journey began in 2015 when I decided to leave my husband & again when Ocean Eyes broke up with me in May 2020. It all feels like forever ago. The ghosts of a life in transition.

The days since have brought all the self-love. I'm proud of where I am, guided by therapy, and a newfound self-awareness. Boundaries in place, may the odds be ever in my favor.

I’ve never been someone who swipes on looks or height alone. Do I want to feel a general attraction to that first photo, yes. We all have our preferences. Does the height matter to me? Nope. You heard it here. If you’re confident, I’ll buy what you are selling.

Mr. Little was just that.

My first heartbreak since the summer of 2021, here we go.

The Repeat and I met in June of 2021. I was feeling sad over Rocketman. We had a nice first date, coffee, walking and talking on a perfect sunny summer Sunday. But we never reached back out to each other. Flash forward to February 2022 I see him again on Hinge and I’m pretty proud of my cheeky re-intro.

I get into dating phases where I push myself too much. As an Enneagram 2 “The Helper” I sometimes forget to to take care of myself more than others.

Buffalo Bill and I matched on Hinge December 18th, 2021. He talked a LOT about his documentary, gave me LA vibes, he even sent it for me to watch.

Flash forward to January 8th he finally asks me out. But for the same day. I’m not a fan of showing I’m available last minute even if I am, so I suggest the following day.

I follow a lot of dating coaches on social media. Because of that I do a lot of A/B testing to see what works and what doesn't. So far nothing has worked, but that's not the point. LOL My current experiment is to give a match my phone number if the conversation is easy and pleasant. Because I KNOW that even if I'm chatting with someone in the app, I'm distracted by the ability to swipe. Let's get off the apps and see how it goes.

flying solo // ojo caliente, nm πŸš—

I'm done waiting for someone to go places with. Time to get out and fly solo.

Saying farewell to Marfa was bitter sweet. I’ll be excited to see her again. My journey continues on, excited for a pit stop in Roswell, NM. I’ve always been a fan of aliens. X-files. Independence Day. Signs. Fringe. Futurama inspired 100 cups of coffee. I had to stop on my way to Taos, NM. I’m glad I did. But just make it just a pit stop. Sticker for my water bottle, photo with an alien. I was ready to move forward to Taos, NM.

"I've never seen Harry Potter, is that why I'm still single?!" What an opening line for someone reaching out to a woman with a Deathly Hallows tattoo. At least he knew where it came from!

I woke up on a Wednesday morning, pay day! I grabbed my cup of coffee and sat down on the couch to pay my bills. Adulting complete, I turn to check Instagram. I have a message. An indecent proposal.

#100cupsofcoffee // blasΓ© ☕️

100 Cups Of Coffee is my journey through divorce, dating & self-discovery.

My single journey began in 2015 when I decided to leave my husband & again when Ocean Eyes broke up with me in May 2020. It all feels like forever ago. The ghosts of a life in transition.

The days since have brought all the self-love. I'm proud of where I am, guided by therapy, and a newfound self-awareness, boundaries in place. May the odds be ever in my favor.

After Wooly Willy I did my typical line 'um up and knock 'em down dating strategy. This time 5 dates in 1 week…yeah. Just don’t. blasΓ© was the 4th date and I just couldn't do it and we ended up rescheduling.

Date 1. Late. (come to find out he lives a block away and waiting until I arrived to walk over) He doesn't ask me many questions, but he has such an amazing smile and we joke about this VERY drunk dude. I leave thinking πŸ€”. We high five and I start my walk back home. I love walking my neighborhood. 😍

Date 2. Late again. I still feel like 🀷🏻‍♀️, but it isn’t horrible so we go to a 2nd spot for a glass of 🍷. He drops me off afterwards and we end the night on a passionate note. CANCEL EVERYONE ELSE!!!!πŸ”₯
