HAPPY Embrace You Geekness Day!

July 13th is known as Embrace Your Geekness Day! Did you know that?! Me either! Thanks to Sam over on SingleHop for letting me know, so I could embrace my GEEKNESS and share it with you! The day was created by Wellcat Holidays. I know us nerds don't need an official day to embrace our geekness, but it is a nice way to be reminded and it comes at the PERFECT time of year...so close to SDCC!

7 Signs You are Nerding Out!

I have a HUGE habit of not listening to family and friends around me when they suggest TV, movie, books, music that they think I would like.  It takes AT LEAST a year for me to follow their advice or longer if I wait to stumble upon it myself.  But once I get into something, there is no stopping me!  I know the warning signs like the back of my hand.  Lucky for you I have complied this list so you can know where you stand in your quest for nerdiness nirvana.

Step 1: Someone you love tells you you would like it and you ignore them. How could they possibly know what YOU like?!

Step 2: Someone famous/on social media tells you to try it out. OF COURSE they know what they are talking about and you jump at the chance to take their advice.
Step 3: You spend every waking minute you are not devoted to "prior commitments" doing said thing and don't stop until you have watched/read every bit that is out there.
Step 4: Buy, buy, buy everything related to said nerdiness.
Step 5: Find and follow all fan sites/celebs involved on ALL social media platforms. Go to all the nerdy places.

Step 6: Spread the love to anyone and everyone who will listen. Including the person who suggested it in the first place.
Step 7: REPEAT.

What are you nerding out about lately!? Share in the comments below and help us all find our next obsession!

5 Fandom Friday: 5 Reasons I Love Autumn (Cozy Fall Favorites)

πŸ‘‰πŸΌ Get Your Gentle Reset Guide ✌πŸΌπŸ’–☕️

Autumn is my favorite time of the year!  The leaves change, sweaters and scarves can be worn again, plus pumpkin EVERYTHING!  Living in LA, doesn't get you into the Autumn spirit too much, with no leaves changing, no weather changes. So to cheer myself up and get us ALL into the Autumn season here are some of my picks of favorite things for Autumn! Of course I had to make them nerdy!

1.  Sweaters!  This nerd sweater is so cute AND neutral so you can dress it up or down!  Check out my Everyday Cosplay Autumn Layers post for more ideas on dressing nerdy in Autumn..that also includes my next favorite thing about Autumn.

2.  Scarves!  These are one of my most favorite accessories! You can never have too many!  NEVER!  Scarves are perfect for the bit of chill in the air and a pop of nerdy color to your look!  Try this nerdy scarf from Her Universe!
3.  Cozy Pjs!  Add in a Cutting Cable marathon and your pumpkin latte for a perfect nerd night cuddling up on the couch! Check out these 10th Doctor PJs from Think Geek!

4.  Pie!  You ALL know that I don't need it to be Autumn to have pie, but any excuse to eat even MORE pie and I'll take it! This pumpkin pie and PSL from The Pie Hole in Pasadena were to die for! I felt bad for cheating on Republic of Pie!

5.  PUMPKIN EVERYTHING!  I've found so many awesome pumpkin foods/drinks/smells I want to try them all!  My favorite has to be the Pumpkin Croissants from Trader Joe's!  My freezer was stocked full of them last year, and this year will be no different!

By the time late November rolls around we here in Southern California should be able to join you all with Autumn weather.  Until then I'll be inside with the AC on, pretending it is Autumn, a pumpkin coffee in hand and burning a pumpkin candle!

What are your favorite things about Autumn??!!  Share them in the comments below!

We Wear Born Campaign Feature!

I bought my first pair of Born Shoes in June 2012.  Thanks to one of the mom's a pre-school for letting me try her's on, I ran right away to the store an purchased this pair below!  WOW!  I can't believe I had gone this long without knowing about these amazing shoes.  They are super soft and comfy, not to mention totally stylish!  I love the height they gave me too {I'm 5'3"!}.

Earlier this year a representative from Born contacted me because of some tweets I had tweeted about the amazing shoes!  I wrote her this lil paragraph expressing my love for the shoes and sent her this picture.  It had been many months ago, so I had forgotten.  Until I received an email with the picture above!  I LOVE how this came out and am so excited to be apart of such a wonderful brand!
To make this story even better, yesterday morning a surprise Born Shoes package came in the mail!  They did tell me they would send me a lil something but I was NOT expecting this!  In the package was a lovely tote bag, wristlet, keychain, tool, bracelet, eye glass pouch, grooming kit and two mini shoes!  The icing on the cake was a lil note with a certificate for a FREE pair of shoes!!  I had to pick three and they will send me one.  Here are the three I picked!
I'm too excited!  I have been dying for a pair of these boots for a while.  My second choice is the metallic because I have been wanting that style but would never buy metallic.  Third are the pink flats that will be perfect for Spring.  I hardly ever by colored shoes so that is why I picked those.  I will update again when my shoes arrive!
Two days before I left for my trip to Colorado my Born shoes arrived on my doorstep!  I was so happy because I was hoping to be able to wear them on my trip and boy did I ever!  They are soooooo SOFT and comfy.  I love that every time I wear them, they get more character.

THANK YOU BORN!!

My FAV NERD moments of 2012

My FAV NERD moments of 2012

This has been such a wonderful year for me as a NERD {and every other way too!}.  Here are my favorite NERD highlights from MY 2012 NERD year.

5.  First "other" con:  Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo
Everyone thought that this show has a bit of a rough start, but for me it was GREAT!  There was a bit of a line situation, but since we got through it quickly I didn't mind.  I made it in time to see the Wild and Crazy Kids reunion followed by the Salute Your Shorts reunion.  It was a nice fun day trip to LA.  Obviously you cannot compete with San Diego Comic Con.  But this was a fun step outside the world of SDCC.

4.  Joss Whedon/Firefly/Avengers/SDCC
SDCC is ALWAYS the highlight of my year, but this year was made extra special by the 10th anniversary of Firefly reunion.  We knew we would have to get in line early.  I kept debating on EARLY or just early.  We ended up doing EARLY and to our awesome surprise were rewarded with an EARLY morning greeting by Joss Whedon himself!  Super sweet/nice/gracious to walk the line of fans for hours!  Thank you Joss!

3.  Finding Doctor Who
I have been told to watch this show for the past two years.  Finally I listened, and to all those naggers, I say "THANK YOU!"  I am officially hooked and have spend the last couple months in a Doctor Who trance.  My Christmas was even Doctor Who inspired with my gingerbread TARDIS' and Doctor Who gifts {wearing my Dalek socks today}!  Now that I have discovered that I do indeed have the BBC America network the Doctor Who series has been set to record for when I catch up!

2.  Zachary Levi
Though it was only for a moment, meeting Zachary Levi was the highlight of my SDCC this year.  He {like Joss Whedon} was completely friendly/sweet/gracious.  He had enthusiasm for EVERY fan that meet his presence and kept it up for the ENTIRE con {4 1/2 days!}.  He also does this ALL for charity {Operation Smile} which is another reason why I love him so much!  See you in 2013 Zach!?

1.  This Blog
I began this blog on July 20th of this year after having just attended SDCC for the 4th year.  I was blogging before and was feeling uninspired.  SDCC gave me the idea to an all NERD blog, but still keep some of my girlie-ness too!  I bought my VERY FIRST domain name {who knew they were so cheap?!} and was gifted some very ADORBS business cards for Christmas.  I have not looked back once and still have TONS of things I still want to write about.  Even if no one ever sees this, it still gives me an outlet for happiness and spreading NERD cheer!  Of course though, I can't wait to HOPEFULLY have YOU all reading and enjoying NERD-ness into 2013!

Have a Happy New Year!
*CHEERS*
