HAPPY HALLOWEEN 2016!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

I had a BUSY weekend! I'm so glad I have to day off! We had TWO BIG parties.

First, this year was my very first time throwing a Halloween party! Ocean Eyes is a pro at it and together we made the house extra spooky and had all of our best buddies over. Shout out to The Dollar Tree for all my decorations. And to our guests who all brought their A game on costumes!
We had Santa and his reindeer, Dancer, Comet and Donner the Downer. Santa brought presents and we were singing carols all night!
My besties were a spot on Ghostbuster and and a enchanting galaxy!
I was so excited to do my very first couples costume for a Halloween party. Ocean Eyes agreed to be a Care Bear with me but with his own special twist! LOL! I DIYed our tummies and our ears! Our sweatsuits we ordered off of Amazon. It was such a fun, comfy and EASY costume. And everyone knew who we were!
I loved having everyone decorate their own pumpkin! I found these little white pumpkins at Trader Joe's and just KNEW all of my creative friends would have fun decorating them! I LOVE THEM!
Our second party was a going away party for a few of Ocean Eyes' friends who are heading out on amazing adventures this year. Two are driving from Colorado to the tip of South America for the next year! You can follow their adventures on their site 4 Runner 4 Adventure. And on Instagram @4runner4adventure.

One of his other friends is heading to Thailand {Aladdin below} and beyond to backpack for the next 8-12 months! We wish them all safe, fun and amazing adventures!
How was your Halloween weekend? What did you dress up as? What are you doing tonight!? I cannot wait to hand out candy in my comfy costume and watch a scary movie with Ocean Eyes. Not too scary though! Share your Halloween adventures in the comments below!

My Top 5 Favorite Goosebumps Books!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I am a huge book nerd as you can see in my In The Racks series. Of course my love of reading goes back way before this blog! When I was younger, I couldn't get my hands on enough of the Goosebumps series! I even wrote a fan letter to R.L. Stine and a picture of me with all my Goosebumps books {I should try to find that for you!}. He is the master at a cliffhanger chapter ending! I never wanted to stop reading!

Horror and I have a weird relationship. I love it, yet it scares me to death, and I like it, kind of. Weird yes, healthy no, fun YES! So with Goosebumps I can get my slight scare on and still sleep with the lights out!  Here are my five favorites!
5.  The Haunted Mask - I am super claustrophobic so this totally played into my fears!
4.  Say Cheese and Die! - As a photographer I found anything on the subject fascinating.
3.  A Night in Terror Tower - My love of the times of yore began.
2.  The Cuckoo Clock of Doom - Me + time travel = squeeeee!
1.  One Day At Horrorland -  My top pick because the rides sounded awesome and who doesn't love an amusement park?!

What are your favorite Goosebumps books?!  Please share in the comments below!

13 Halloween Episodes To DIE LOLing Over!

Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are such fun times of the year! But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Halloween is first and here are some of my favorite TV episodes to get you in the mood. Some are scary, some are silly and some are just plain fun!

1. Psych - This Episode Sucks Season {S6 Ep3}. I became a huge Psych-O SDCC and this episode is one of my most favorites. Vampires and laughs!

2. Chuck - Chuck vs the Sandworm {S1 Ep6}. Chuck will always hold a special place in my heart. This show made me more nerdy! I love all the costumes and Star Wars references!
3. Castle - Vampire Weekend {S2 Ep 6}. Nathan Fillion dressed as a "space cowboy," need I say more?!

4. The Office - Halloween {S2 Ep5}. This is a show that knows how to do a Halloween episode. Funny costumes and characters. An Office classic.

5. Dexter - Dexter {S1 Ep1}. A great place to start your Dexter journey. Great mood and set up to an amazing show.

6. Goosebumps - One Day at Horrorland {S3 Ep 6&7}. My favorite of the Goosebumps books! Now the entire series is available on Netflix.  Can you say marathon?!
7. Community - Horror Fiction in Seven Spooky Steps {S3 Ep5}. Season three is where the show really starts to get amazing. This episode is perfect. One of my top favorites and a great way to get into this amazing show.

8. Simpsons - Treehouse of Horror: Lisa, Bart and Homer's nightmares {S2}. I find that the earlier Treehouse of Horrors are the best. Maybe because I was younger when they were beginning to come out and their scary factor was more real to me.
9. The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. A classic that will never die!

10. The Walking Dead - Days Gone Bye {S1 Ep1}. SO happy to have this show back on, but this first episode sets up an amazing series and could be a movie all it's own.

11. Home Improvement - Haunting of the Taylor House {S2 Ep6}. Home Improvement was such a fun family show, they just don't make them like this anymore. I wish all TV shows could do Halloween episodes that last!

12. Are You Afraid of the Dark - The Tale of the Nightly Neighbors {S1 Ep8}. Where my fascination with vampires began!
13. Glee - The Rocky Horror Glee Show {S2 Ep5}. Great music and wonderful performances. I don't watch Glee anymore, but I still enjoy their music!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN 2014!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN NERDS!!!

Who is excited for Comikaze!?  I will be there Friday, Saturday and Sunday so keep an eye out for me and say hello!
Now for my Halloween costume this year!  Say Anything is one of those classic 80s movies I just LOVE.  I seriously swoon over Lloyd's classic boom box scene! #MUSICNERD
I was lucky enough to find the coat at the Salvation Army for only $20.  It will be perfect for my 10th Doctor and John Bender looks!  The tee was 50 CENTS at the Salvation Army and I printed out the picture of The Clash on iron on printable paper to make the shirt.  I didn't have the correct shoes, but close enough and the pants I already had from Old Navy.  I LOVE them they are super soft!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my lil mini boom box!  It is my baby and I take it EVERYWHERE!  I have to give credit to my friend Ben though, he shared his with me and I immediately went out and got my own.  I take it in the shower, in my bike basket and on all of my trips, just ask The Music Maven!

Now I think I need to have an 80s movie marathon, starting with The Breakfast Club I LOVE that movie.  Do you have a favorite 80s movie or song?!  My favorite 80s songs:  Take On Me, Only You, and of course In Your Eyes...check out my video below :)

Share your favorite 80s things in the comments below!  Do you have your Halloween costume all set?  Share that with me as well!  Hope to see some of you at Comikaze tomorrow!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN 2013!

Every year I am super excited to dress up for Halloween!  This year I am the 11th Doctor.  He has my favorite outfit and I love carrying a Sonic Screwdriver!  My pre-school kiddos will have no idea who I am {they usually don't} but it is a great way to introduce them to the awesomeness that is Doctor Who!
The Gamer Geek and The Music Maven even got in on the BBC theme this year by dressing up as an amazing Sherlock and Watson!
In the past I have been River from Firefly/Serenity, Phineas from Phineas and Ferb and Marty McFly from Back to the Future.
For The Hunny's work party last night, I was excited to do my Marty Mcfly from last year again with people who got it!  I made fast friends with fellow time travelers Mike and Annie!
For the ride over to the party The Hunny's company got us a double decker bus!  This Anglophile was in heaven!
The Hunny isn't into dressing up so, I just brought my Jayne had and made him wear it!
What are you all dressing up as today?!  Share with me over on Twitter or in the comments below!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

Almost Nerdy Costume Contest 2012

The photo I entered.
The blog site Almost Nerdy was having a costume contest for Halloween.  I had this shot I took while trying out my costume and decided to enter it on a whim.  Many family and friends voted and I was in second place for the longest time.  I did not come close to winning but was in a very close 2nd place race with the other cosplayer's picture who is located next to mine in the below blog post link.  Thank you everyone who voted!

On a related note, Geek & Sundry was RTing costumes submitted to them on Twitter on Halloween.  I was not planning on doing a Halloween blog post until the next day, but I had my photos edited so threw one together and sent it to them.

They RTed me!

Then my blog post BLEW UP!  That day I had over 600 people view it and since them it is almost at 900!  The most anyone had viewed any of my posts before, was a bit over 100.  So of course I am super happy and excited that this was able to happen.  I hope that everyone enjoyed the post, are coming back and stay in touch!  I write here for people to read and to connect with me and other nerds!

Thank you everyone who reads this, know that I appreciate you and ALWAYS love to hear from you!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I was too excited to write my The Walking Dead review.  I wanted to get dressed up ASAP!  If you cannot tell, I am Marty McFly from Back to the Future.  Those are suppose to be flames by my feet {I tried!}.

We were having an awesome foggy morning, so I rushed over to work to get a few shots of me before I took pictures of all our cute preschoolers.

a Native American {Indian}.

CUTEST baby elephant!

Heatblast from Ben 10.

Our "chief" {boss lady was also a Native American} made these ADORBs skeleton treats!

I made allergy friendly cupcakes.  We aslo had zombie hand popcorn, pumpkin oranges and Frankenstein pudding {that was the BEST!}

On our tables, we had our black cat handprint placemats.

Hope everyone has a super awesome Halloween and if you have the time {SUPER QUICK and EASY} go over to HERE and just *LIKE* my photo for the Almost Nerdy costume contest!  Currently I'm in 2nd place and voting ends FRIDAY! :)

THANKS!
