The Nerdy Girlie's Top 10 Futurama Episodes

Futurama finally comes back to my streaming service today. Hulu has added all of the original episodes and guess what I'm doing while I'm writing this! I have seen the original episodes more times than I can count! The newer episodes not as much, but maybe a couple will sneak into my top 10 favorite Futurama episodes!

5 Fandom Friday: Favorite Fictional Foods

Are you NEW to 5 Fandom Friday? Welcome and come join along! 5 Fandom Friday was created by myself and Super Space Chick in October of 2014, as a way to get all of our blogger friends keeping on task each week, building a community with our fellow bloggers and connecting with new and old friends once a week! We choose the topics, you do the writing! Let's get inspired together!

1. Popplers. I probably wouldn't eat Popplers as they are the young of the Omicronians, but they are so super cute that one as a lil buddy would be nice. Also the theme song for them is so catchy!!
2. Chocolate Frogs. Technically they are real now. BUT not magically real!
3. Butterbeer. Also technically real. But can we get it as an actual beer?! #justsaying
4. Wonka Bars. The only reason I need Wonka Bars to be a real thing is so they could come with golden tickets and the factory existed I could raid that candy room!

5. Slurm. Again like the chocolate factory. The Slurm factory is pretty rad. Until you find out what it is made of. BUT I would like to try it. At least ONE sip!

YUM now I need to go eat some sweets! Thank God my birthday party Pies & Pies is tonight! Share your links in the comments below, on Twitter for a RT and on our Female Geek Bloggers page! I cannot wait to see what you all pick!

Happy FRI-YAY!!

5 Fandom Friday: Five Fictional Pets I'd Like To Adopt

I already had a chance at owning my dream pet. Ever since I was little I wanted an orange cat like Garfield or Oliver from Oliver and Company. Luckily for 7 years I was able to love my little kitty with all my heart. It has been sad not having him with me now, but I know that he is well taken care of.

OK enough melancholy! I'm so happy to share with you 5 fictional pets I would LOVE to have!
1. Nibbler. You know my first pick HAD to be Futurama right? And since Nibbler is basically a space cat I get the best of both worlds. Though picking up his poop might be a bit of a challenge! BUT I could always sell it as star ship fuel and the purchaser has to pick it up! LOL
2. Bender. As Fry says in the very first episode of Futurama, "I've always wanted a robot as a pet!" Plus you would never have to drink alone! Bender be down for anything!

3. Oliver. Ever since I saw Oliver and Company when I was a child or since my Mom was obsessed with Garfield...I'm not sure which influenced me more to want an ginger cat.

4. Simba. The second...or third, not sure what we decided, LOL, inspiration for my cat obsession. Of course The Lion King spells it Simba, but I decided to be funky and go with Symba when I named my kitty!
5. A Popple. When I was little, The Popples were my absolute favorite show! They were always so fun AND super cuddley! I still have a few of my stuffed animals and they still hold a special place in my heart. To quote the theme song "living just for fun!" Yes please.

Who knows when I will have a chance to have a pet again. For now it's nice that my Uncle has a sweet lil puppy and my cousin let's us enjoy his pup as well. I never thought I was a dog person before. But these guys have grown on me!

Share your favorite fictional pets in the comments below AND tweet me on Twitter for a RT! Thanks for playing a long nerds! Check out Super Space Chick's site for the AUGUST prompts!

5 Fandom Friday: Five Favorite Aliens

Happy ALMOST 4th of July! What better way to celebrate than with ALIENS!! That's what the day is all about am I right?!

{JUST KIDDING NERDS!}

Futurama {my FAVE show EVER!} is FULL of aliens and so my list is dominated by that...BUT one of my favorite movies had to get a mention too! Check out my list below!
1. Leela. Badass starship captain AND chic outfit dresser. ALSO secret superhero! I've always wanted to cosplay Clobber-ella!
2. Amy Wong. YES she is totally an alien...she is from MARS! She and Leela together are me! I want to be like Leela, but am totally a girlie girl like Amy! #PINKEVERYTHING
3. Nibbler. He is pretty much a cat and can drive a space ship. Enough said. Tho scooping his poop would be quite a hassle.

4. Morbo. He is pretty much the funniest sub-character on the show. The way he doesn't hide his loathing of the human race is perfect when delivering the news TO humans! AND he's one of the Futurama character's I haven't made into an Everyday Cosplay...adding him to the list!

5. Independence Day Aliens. This is one of my top ten favorite movies so of course I had to diverge from Futurama and give it ONE spot on my list! I LIVE for disaster movies and Independence Day is one of THE best! Lil Nerdy Girlie fact, I use to know the entire President speech at the end of the movie. I paused/played my VHS tape and wrote down the entire speech. #NerdForREELz

WOW this was one of my favorite prompts ever! I LOVE aliens! I cannot wait to see what everyone else comes up with! Share your posts in the comments below and on Twitter for a RT! Have a fun and safe holiday nerds and see you soooooooooooooooooooon at SDCC!!!!!!

5 Fandom Friday: Favorite Funko Pop Figures

I don't collect many things {LA apartment life} but if I was able to collect more things, Funko Pops would definitely be one of them.  I own one as of now and I did buy The Hunny one that he keeps at his office.  But that is it.

Then Funko announced their 2015 lines and I about died!  ALL of my favorite fandoms are now represented!  Here are the ones I might have to sacrifice space for!

1.  Futurama!  YUP this is THE one I will be wanting EVERY single one of!  Since the show is cancelled we fans don't get much Futurama merch so I am happy to get anything and these Pops are so adorable!!  #FUTURAMA4EVA

2.  Doctor Who.  I WILL be getting a 10 POP there is no way around that!  He is my Doctor and my 2nd favorite fandom.  I'll have to see what the other ones look like before I start adding them to my Amazon wishlist.

3.  The Breakfast Club.  MY FAVE 80s movie!  I cannot wait to see what these look like!  I would love to have the John Bender regardless!  I heart bad boys!  LOL
4.  Marty McFly.  The one and only Pop I own.  From also my FAVE 80s movie, obviously since he is the one I finally decided to purchase out of all the billion Pops in the world!

5.  Baby Groot.  This one is the definition of adorable.  Go to the Dictionary and look...there will be a picture!  It's true :)  Yes so this is one I would love to have this one as well!

SO that is my list!  I wish there were more pictures, I'm dying to see what these lil guys are going to look like!  Make sure you share your favorites and links in the comments below. Tweet me as well and I'll RT you!  I say this every week, but I just LOVE waking up Friday morning and reading everyone's posts!  It's like Christmas every week!

5 Fandom Friday: Gateway Fandoms That Made Me Who I Am Today

I have been a nerd my entire life, though that is not what I have always called it.  Not because I was afraid, but because, I was just doing what I loved.  Here are the five fandoms that made me the proud nerd I am today!
1.  Vampires.  Besides music, vampires are the first thing I remember obsessing over.  From the first time I saw an Are You Afraid of the Dark episode, to Interview With A Vampire {my favorite film} to Twilight, vampires have followed me from an early age.  I go into more depth of my love HERE.
2.  Futurama.  My next obsession came with Futurama.  I remember it airing for the first time on Fox, but it wasn't until it was a staple on Adult Swim that I began watching.  It soon became my nightly lullaby and I celebrated the release of the films and it's two time revival.  I can quote almost every episode and love dropping them into conversations!  {ps I AM wearing shorts in this picture!}
3.  Harry Potter.  I was working at a movie theater when the first film came out and hated the madness it brought.  Though I finally broke down, bought the book, watched the first film and then went straight away to buy books 2-4.  I did midnight releases for the books and movies and now have  a yearly tradition when The Hunny and I marathon the entire series during Thanksgiving.
4.  Doctor Who.  I had been told for years to watch Doctor Who.  I'm not quite sure why I never did, maybe because I was scared I wouldn't like it.  That fear was remedied quickly and as soon as series 2 rolled around I had MY Doctor and my favorite episode.  The rest is history and it is the 2nd most popular topic on my blog other than San Diego Comic Con.
5.  Anglophilia.  First Titanic.  Second The Spice Girls.  Then Harry Potter and Doctor Who then pushed me over the edge.  Enter A Silent Film and I cannot get enough of the wonderful UK!  Its telly, films, pop culture, people and music.  My trip over Christmas 2013 cemented my love for the country in my heart and I am currently saving for my return.  Watch out!

That's it!  Our first 5 Fandom Friday!  Share your's in the comments below or tweet them to me @thenerdygirlie or @SuperSpaceChic and we will RT them!  I cannot wait to start reading yours!!

Show Off Your Geek Space: The Nerdy Girlie

The wonderful fellow Female Geek Blogger, The Princess and the Geek, began this fun blog hop!  Along the long the lines of the If My Blog Was An Outfit post we did. I love all of the geeky stuff around my house and cannot wait to share it with you! Thank you Molly for the inspiration!

I have three spaces I want to share with you all today!  First off is where I spend MOST of my time, my desk!
I cleaned it just for you readers!  It was a bit messy with Wonder Con and my Sherlock Holmes Day events this past weekend, thank you for making me get it back to normal!
Up close shot of the awesome-ness above my desk.  My A Silent Film swag, featuring the pictures I took on their last tour.  Bits of my UK obsession, featuring the amazing birthday card my sister-in-law made me.  My favorite Doctor Who swag, stamps, and my RIP Psych card, they sent for the ending of the series.
On the right side of my desk is more Doctor Who love {TARDIS made by The Gamer Geek}, my Marty McFly POP! and the cutest Union Jack tray for my guitar picks, which was a birthday present from one of my awesome San Diego Nerd Girlfriends Sylvia.  What is in the box you say?  All the "junk" that won't fit anywhere on or in my desk, but I can't bare to part with!
To the left, my blog calendar, notebook and MUST have, headphones that let me escape and write away with awesome tunes filling my head and heart.  The Kindle is there for break times.
Turning to another favorite spot in my house, my view from the couch!  Futurama toys front and center line under the telly.
Here is another vantage point from the couch, my favorite books!  These are ones I have read multiple times and could read multiple times more.  My Serenity comic signed by Nathan Fillion and our annual San Diego Comic Con collage!
Lastly, is my music station!  It gets most of its play during the day when The Hunny isn't home.  I keep the ones I'm listening to the most at the moment out behind the turntable.  I am currently listening to all my Record Store Day finds!

I hope you all liked the tour of my Geek Spaces!  Share yours in the comments below and don't forget to head over to The Princess and the Geek for how you can participate!

YAMAT Podcast

I cannot say enough good things about going to cons!  At Stan Lee's Comikaze this past year held at the LA Convention Center, I met Doug.  I was in the mist of my Breaking Bad marathon and he walked by dressed as THE BEST Walter White.  I had to stop him and chat!

Then at the beginning of April, Doug messaged me on Twitter asking if I wanted to come on his Podcast, You And Me And Thoughts with Doug Clup.  I said of course! He said we would record at his house. I was "ok cool", then The Hunny said "you are going to go to a guys house you met one time?"  So my lovely sister in law was my chaperone and is on the podcast a bit.  Mostly she just sat and read while Doug and I chatted for almost 3 hours!
He is such a fun guy to talk to and we had a LOT in common, plus he is super funny! I hope that you enjoy listening to us chat about Futurama, Being Human and a mutual love of music!  He's totally legit too! :)

**LISTEN to our talk:  iTunes or Stitcher {click on either!}**

Doug hosts Our Apartment Comedy Show Saturday nights in Vista if you are living in the San Diego area.  Find out more about that on his Facebook page.

My British Birthday

My birthday weekend has come to an end and it was amazing!  Thank you EVERYONE who sent me such wonderful and sweet birthday messages!  I read them all and they ALL made me smile and feel so special!
The Music Maven send me a lovely package with all my favorite fandoms!  Every year she makes me a card and this year she made me cry!  It was perfect just like her!
The Friday before my birthday my Mom and I went back to the tea house we visited on Valentine's Day.  This time we made reservations and had our own table.  We had a lovely lunch and LOTS of tea!  The ladies who run the shop are so sweet and brought me over this cupcake and the entire place sang me happy birthday!
After tea, my mom and I headed over for pedis!!!
I then came home to a surprise package from the sweet boys over at The Nerd Fu! They sent me THREE Futurama blind boxes!  They are now sitting on my desk, watching me write!  Thank you boys that was so sweet!
We had our first gloomy weekend of the year here in San Diego, but that did not stop me from getting my shop on!  This is one of my favorite parts of the birthday weekend!  I shopped till I dropped, then remembered that I still needed to do another birthday tradition, make my birthday cake!
Sunday March 2nd, was my official birthday and with my theme this year being British, the weather fit in perfectly!  I wore my adorable new Oxfords and used the umbrella to keep them dry more than myself!
After church my family all met up for a lil birthday lunch.  I had everyone dress in red, white and blue and we decorated the house accordingly!
The afternoon was filled with music, tea and lots of family time by the fire.  Both of my brothers played and sang to me all afternoon.  It was marvelous.  The Hunny even wore Union Jack socks as a surprise!

Thank you ALL again for making me feel so special on my birthday, and everyday with all the encouraging words!

Collage features {Thank you @cyberaug, Lego Loki, @HiddlesEducates, @syllykay, @MimiB37425255, @lennyukdeejay who wrote a lovely post over on G+ and last but not least the LOVELY Lamplighters all sent me greetings over on the A Silent Film Lamplighter FB page!}

I couldn't have asked for a better day.  Thank you all for making it GREAT!!! xo

So long Futurama & thanks for the memeories

Ready to watch the finale!

It has been a good run!  I was lucky enough to see MOST of this series finale at SDCC this year.  I videoed the first 1/3 of the cast doing a table read of the finale.  We then watched the 2nd part in its entirety as we saw it on Wednesday night.  The last and finale piece I had to wait for...just like you all.  It did not disappoint!

Avenge Us!  Perfect funny and also kinda sad intro line to the finale episode.  I have always enjoyed these lil bits in the beginning of each episode.  Some of my favorites have been:

"See you on some other channel."
"It just won't stay dead."
"You can't prove it won't happen."
"Thanks for watching, Futurama slave army!" (In Alienese)
"The Humans Shall Not Defeat Us." (In Alienese)

The episode opens with Fry and Leela back where they had their first delivery together, the Moon.  It was nice to see the full circle.  Crater Face is always good for a laugh.  It was so great to SEE this part after only HEARING it at SDCC.

The second part I had already seen at SDCC so I was anxious to get past this and see the end!

This last 1/3 of the show was very touching and I was happy to see how the ending played out.  Though I did think that Fry and Leela would stay in the frozen time, I was so happy that they decided to go back with the Professor.  It was so sad that they would not remember their amazing life together!  But it opened them up to have ANOTHER amazing life together and no one ever gets that chance.  Of course it also leaves the show open to come back, which I would not be against!
A LIL bit of Futurama round my house!
I will always be a fan of Futurama and don't forget you can always go back and re-watch the old episodes!  That's what I have always done!  Here are my top 10 Futurama favorites!

What did you all think of the finale?!
