This morning was suppose to be spent lazily exploring Watford, enjoying a spa day and then the Harry Potter Studio Tour. Yesterday changed everything. Luckily not Harry Potter. We woke up early in Watford to head back into London before the Embassy opened. Upon arrival we were told we needed to make an appointment. This was not stated yesterday. I hopped on my phone and emailed LondonPassports@state.gov. 46 minutes later they got back to us with an appointment time for Friday, our flight home is on Monday. It was currently Wednesday. We head back to Watford.
Needing to feel a comfort from home, we stopped at Starbucks and downloaded our thoughts thus far. By this time my hearing aids were dead, the only shoes I had were mesh ballet flats and I was just wanting to go home. After coffee, we walked through the mall to gather everything we needed for our passport appointment, new Apple AirPods with hearing aid capability and sneakers.
Another important thing that was stolen was all of my husband's medications. It is a scary thing to be without. He made an appointment back in London to get a Rx. While he was doing that I set up my new hearing aids. Then I remembered that my old AirPods were with my stolen stuff! I quickly looked them up on my iPhone and saw this:
THERE THEY WERE! IN A POLICE STATION! When my husband got back from his appointment we drove there straight away! Upon arrival I walked in and told the what happened yesterday, showing them my phone and the AirPods location in their station. There was a front desk clerk as well as an officer there to hear the events thus far. I thought our luck had finally changed. Neither of them could help me and they told us to fill out a police report. My husband filled out the police report and it was almost immediately "case closed" with no results.
I couldn't believe that I could "SEE" where our items were but no one would help us find them. Two days later I could still see my AirPods location. We never saw our stuff again, even with submitting a second police report and talking to another station.
