How I Bought a House Alone (Even When I Didn’t Think I Could) 🏡 💰

As a single female I didn't think that I would ever own my own house. I thought renting was the only thing in my future. But when the condo I was renting was being sold, and I couldn't find a new reasonable priced apartment to rent, I thought about buying.

That was June 2022. By the end of July 2022, I was in MY own home! I was lucky it happened so fast. Here's how I made it happen!

At the time I was able to quickly get pre-approved and I started my search. I had about $5,000 saved and my parents lent me $7,500 (which I was able to pay back in one year).

The scariest part was the money and the commitment. But the exciting part was making a place of my own. Below are videos of my home buying process!

The Dream Coming True

The easiest first step is to get pre-approved for a mortgage loan. This will tell you right away what you CAN afford. Then you see how that realistically fits into your current financial situation. You can start saving for a bigger down payment, or like me take what you already have and make it work into a budget you feel comfortable with. Make sure to run the numbers and feel confident in your decision. It is a big one.

From the last video to today, my house has come a long way! I have been here for 4 years this July. As a child of a military family this is the longest I have ever been in one place! As I've grown, are there things I'm missing? Sure. I'd love a yard and a garage in my next home. But I have learned so much buying and living in this home that future me will appreciate when it is time to move on. Until then, I am so happy in my cozy Denver home! See the full tour here!
