LA Apartment Tour

It is official!  I am now an LA resident!  The movers packed us up on Wednesday morning and I was unpacked before 6 p.m. that same night!  I am so happy to have my house back in order.  It hasn't exactly been smooth sailing, but we are getting use to it and settling in, though it still feels like a vacation!

In San Diego, we had a three level town home with two bedrooms, two baths and a two car garage.  In LA we have one bedroom, one bath and two parking spots.  You can say it was a BIT of a shock unpacking.  The living room just barely fits our HUGE couch, but I just love all the light that comes in through the big window.
Everything seemed bigger before we started moving stuff in.  The kitchen is defiantly one of those places.  I didn't think I had a LOT of kitchen stuff, turns out I do.  I tried to down size as much as possible, and I am happy with what is left.  My favorite spot has to be my lil coffee corner in the bottom left of the picture.
Moving down to one bathroom has been interesting, but so far so good.  I didn't even mention that Boring Cat, is having a rough go of the move!  We loath having a litter box, but the bathroom just seems like the easiest place to clean up is messes.  Luckily we don't ever get too many guests.
The bedroom is JUST big enough for our bed and you can see the tight space between the bed and dresser.  The hardest part has been the lack of closet space and now The Hunny and I have to share a desk, which won't be too bad because I'll write during the day while he is at work, then he can come home and play games at night.
What sold me on this apartment, wasn't just the price {which is a LOT more than we were paying in SD}, the size {WAY smaller}, it was this balcony.  As soon as I saw it I imagined a lovely oasis and am LOVING having my morning coffee out there!  I cannot wait to get some more plants and twinkle lights set up.
Plus THIS view over looking Venice Beach in the distance.  I cannot wait to see what fireworks displays we can see on the 4th!  Also we get a nice ocean breeze during the day which is lovely.
The Nerdy Girlie house hold would not be complete without some nerdy touches!  My favorite is my shelving unit in the above picture!  All my favorite things, music, books, photography and my lil nerdy obsessions!  I have The Doctor, Princess Peach, Marty McFly and Maggie Simpson {she was on my 8th birthday cake!}  Over on the telly is all my mini Futurama figures!

We haven't been here long, but I am loving the ability to walk to a lot of places.  I haven't driven any where yet, I'm super nervous about that, but hope to try sometime this week.  I am excited to start meeting some nerd girl friends so if you are in the area send me your email and I'll add you the list I'm starting for a LA nerd girl meet up!

Here's to new adventures!!

Downsizing is so hard! I'm glad you're enjoying your new place, though :)

Congrats on the move! You deserve an award for downsizing - not an easy task! We'll be in LA at the end of September, so there is a possibility we may see each other twice this year!
