Geek Girls Gab with Wrong Button Blog

I’m Emily Kelley and I’m the co-founder of the award-winning Wrong Button Blog. Aside from the blog, I’m a writer, actress, future galactic war hero, Harry Potter addict, video game junkie and cosplayer. I’m also a novice DIY-er and mom to two beautiful cats.
The Nerdy Girlie:  What is your 1st nerd memory?
Emily:  I remember playing Sonic the Hedgehog with my dad on our Sega Genius. I must have been 4 or 5. I was terrible at first, but I never stopped trying to beat that damn lava level.
TNG:  How and why did you start blogging?
Emily:  I’m in school for Journalism and have been a journalist since I was 15, so I really wanted to start writing things that I wanted to talk about instead of something someone told me to write about. Peter (my boyfriend and co-founder of the blog) really wanted to start a blog as well, so when we finally found the time, Wrong Button was created.

TNG:  YOUR favorite blog?
Emily:  I read The Mary Sue religiously. It has a lot of great content, and it’s one of the best blogs out there for nerdy girl news.

TNG:  What is your favorite thing/things to nerd out about?
Emily:  Oh man, that is a good question. I have so many nerdy obsessions, and I love to nerd out about all of them! I guess my biggest obsession is video games, though. I love playing them, talking about them, writing about out, everything. I’m also a huge Harry Potter nerd. I could probably talk about Harry Potter forever.

TNG:  Any tips for San Diego Comic Con?
Emily:  Well, I’ve never been to Comic Con (someday!), but we were in San Diego for another convention during SDCC 13 The best advice I can give is to plan early and do some research. I know a lot of people have trouble booking hotels, so as soon as you know the dates for SDCC, see about rates. Even if you don’t get a badge, you can still come for the weekend and hang out. It’s always good to research bars and restaurants in the area so that you’re not aimlessly wondering around.
TNG:  Girlie things you love?
Emily:  Peter can attest that I LOVE clothes. I have a stupid amount of clothes. Most of them are awesome nerdy t-shirts and tanks, but I just generally have a lot of pieces. I’m the type of person that likes to have a new outfit for every special occasion, so that starts to pile up. I’m by no means a fashionista, but I do love a good shopping trip.

Thank you Emily for taking time to answer our questions!  I can't believe we were so close at this year's SDCC and didn't get a chance to meet up!  NEXT YEAR!  Congratulations/good luck on your Geeky Award and nomination!  Follow Emily:  and visit Wrong Button Blog!
