Wonder Con 2015!

Wonder Con 2015! Yes that was three weeks ago now, and I am only just finding time to write about it! I've been so busy! I just started a new job and that plus two other part time jobs and this blog, which I have been seriously neglecting, makes it tough to get time in to do what I love most!

Wonder Con was amazing! I went down with High Voltage Magazine and we had our very first booth experience together! I was so happy to have a place for all of my nerdy friends to come and hangout. I was able to see so many more people that way. Plus spread the word on how amazing High Voltage Magazine is!
Saturday of Wonder Con I helped launch the LA chapter of Geek Girl Brunch with Your Friend Elle and Wrong Button Blog! What an amazing experience that was! I was and am so happy to be a part of bringing together the geek girl community! We met at a gorgeous lil restaurant around the corner from the convention center on a beautiful back patio. SoCal really is the best. It was the perfect day to sit outside, chat and enjoy a delicious brunch.
If you are in the LA area and are looking to join us please sign up on the Geek Girl Brunch website. We already have our NEXT brunch set for Saturday May 2nd. So sign up now and we will get you on the invite list!

My very first panel of the con was Her Universe {nerdy and girlie am I right?!}. I rushed over from the GGB and made it just in time and BOUNUS, I got a front row seat! That is the magic of Wonder Con. I was in a San Diego Comic Con mindset, but after that panel I knew that lines were not going to be an issue.
Her Universe creator Ashley Eckstein was as adorable as ever. She is such a great representation of fangirls! We got an exclusive sneak peak of her new line of nerd girl clothing featuring Age Of Ultron! You can pre-order it now on her site and it will hit Hot Topic stores on May 12th.

Ashley also announced that there WILL be another Her Universe fashion show at this year's San Diego Comic Con on Thursday July 9th! I have a few friends entering, good luck you all!

My second and last panel of Wonder Con was Orphan Black. This one had a bit of a queue, but I wasn't worried about getting in, the room was quite big. I was so happy when we were given some sweet swag! Orphan Black exclusive buttons that I just HAD to send to my wonderful nerd girlfriend Being Geek Chic {she is an uber fan!}
The panel showed a ton of clips of season three and it looks amazing Clone Club! The cast is so appreciative and funny in person, it was great getting to see them. I tried at SDCC but you all know SDCC. That is one of the great pluses of a smaller con.

My Saturday ended with my very first Masquerade. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it was definitely not what I saw. There were some great and lovely costumes, but after a very long two days at a con, the crowd was just a bit too much for me!
The host would let the crowd say the number of the contestant up next and the crowd decided to make that drag out longer than necessary. Saturday was my night to write for High Voltage Magazine, so I just wanted to see the costumes, hear the winner and then be able to write my article. I ended up leaving the event only ten costumes in. I was sad to miss a couple of my friends but was happy when I was in bed by 11 p.m. LOL
ONE of my favorite cosplays of the con! I squeed & made him come over to the booth!

The Wonder Con exhibition floor was way bigger than it ever had been and my favorite thing I saw was the San Andres experience! I am a HUGE disaster movie fan and San Andres is right up my alley. Seeing the trailer on the big screen was awesome and made me even more excited to see the film.
My other favorite cosplayer of the con! Chris is THE best Sherlock...he IS Sherlock!

I can't believe how much life can get in the way of doing what you love. But I am happy doing what I am doing at the moment. I hope you enjoyed this very late wrap up of my Wonder Con experience and I promise that I am trying to get back into a regular writing schedule! I miss it so much! And I am happy to be back at it. Thank you for sticking with me nerds! xx

My Top 10 Favorite Nerd Moments of 2013

2013 has been one of the best years of my life.  I have gotten to do so many amazing things and meet so many wonderful people!  My life is truly blessed and I am thankful for everyday that I get to do what I LOVE!  Here are my favorite moments from this perfect year!
10.  Discovering new shows.  Every year at San Diego Comic Con, I always find one new show to obsess over.  This year it was Psych!  Thanks to Netflix I was able to marathon all SEVEN seasons and am super PSYCH-ed for their musical episode on December 15.  It was Netflix again that helped me become Sherlocked!  At the beginning of this year, I finally decided to watch the first episode and was like OMG! I stopped there and let The Hunny catch up and we marathoned through in one weekend!  Reign is my favorite new show of 2013 and BBCA is my favorite channel!
9.  Nathan Fillion encounter at SDCC.  Though it did not go quite as I had planned, it was nice to finally meet "The Mayor of SDCC" after five years of attending.  The Music Maven has a better story than I to tell.  Feel free to ask her, she LOVES talking about it!
8.  The Doctor Who 50th Anniversary.  The 50th anniversary coincided with my Doctor Who one year anniversary.  It was this time last year that I was Netflixing through the entire series reboot.  David Tennant became my Doctor and my Whovian status was official.  It was so amazing to celebrate 50 years of this brilliant show with some amazing Whovians!  My friend Sarah had such an awesome party and I was even able to see the special again a second time on the BIG screen!
7.  Creating the Female Geek Bloggers G+ group.  Along with the lovely Geek My Life, we came up with the idea of connecting with other female geek bloggers like ourselves.  We made this a group where we ladies can gather, exchange ideas and support each other.  It has been such a wonderful way to find like minds and read other amazing blogs.
6.  Meeting new friends and having a BLAST at SDCC.  My fifth year at SDCC has been my favorite!  I finally got to meet so many wonderful friends that I had met through this blog and on Twitter.  Meeting everyone in person made the experience even more amazing than the past four years combined.  SDCC is all about sharing your nerdom with other nerds like you! Thank you everyone for the hugs and chats! I cannot wait till SDCC 2014!
5.  Other Cons.  While I was making up this collage, I JUST realized that I was able to attend SEVEN cons besides SDCC this year!  They were Con Dor, Vid Con, Wonder Con, D23, SD Comic Fest, Phoenix Comic Con and Stan Lee's Comikaze.  I met even more Twitter friends at each con and was able to sit on my very first panel!
4.  Becoming a Her Universe Fangirl of the Day.  I submitted myself to be a Fangirl of the day and was so excited to wake up one morning having been picked!  I love everything Ashley is doing to support and promote fellow fangirls.  I hope I can do even just a little bit of what she does.  Plus her clothing line for fangirls is AMAZING and I want to wear it all!
3.  A Silent Film shows with The Music Maven and The Gamer Geek.  Along with celebrating my one year DW anniversary, it is also my one year ASF anniversary. Last year The Music Maven was raving about them!  I was able to go to my first show for my 30th birthday this year {along with some amazing ladies!}.  They and I fell in love with this band.  So when ASF announced a November tour for this year, I knew that I had to attend a show with my Music Maven!  I started out November with a show in Santa Ana and the next day I was on a plane to Colorado to see TWO more shows with The Music Maven and The Gamer Geek.  It was so magical to experience this music with two people I love so very much and who understand the way music makes you feel.  I even began guitar lessons because of one of ASF's You Tube videos.  We shall see where I am at with that next year!  GO LISTEN to "our band" and join our G+ page!
2.  SherlockeDCC Party at SDCC.  I was so excited to be asked by The Baker Street Babes to help them throw this amazing Sherlock themed party.  Everyone who donated made this party what it was. We could not done it without all of their help! The best part was meeting so many awesome Sherlock fans and having the show's creators Steven Moffat, Sue Vertue and Mark Gatiss show up!  Seeing the surprise on our guest's faces was priceless!
1.  My one year blog anniversary.  Four years after attending my very first SDCC I decided it was time to start a blog where I could share my love of all things nerd and help fellow nerds have as amazing time at SDCC as I do every year.  I never dreamed that in one year I could have 100,000 views, almost 2,000 followers/friends on Twitter or have anyone even want to read what I write.  I am so thankful to everyone who reads this, who comments or shares, I hope that I can continue to create content you love and that I love sharing with you!

Since writing this post, a special trip has come up.  I will be traveling to England for Christmas! Since it hasn't happened yet, I didn't add it to the list, but it deserves a mention!  You can count on it being number one for this year and many to come...stay tuned for all my adventures across the pond!

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy Christmas season and 2014!

What experiences or moments had you squeee-ing this year?!  Let's all fan-girl/boy out together in the comments below!

The Nerdy Girlie At Wonder Con

The Nerdy Girlie At Wonder Con

This was my very first Wonder Con.  The Hunny was able to hook us up again with professional badges.  We woke up early and drove up from San Diego.  Parking was a breeze, getting our badges, not so much!  We did not have a bar code so were sent to the help desk, they couldn't help us so finally made a BIG circle and ended up at professional registration and were good to go!

The 10th and 11th Doctor gals were my FAVORITE cosplay of the day.  I NEED to learn how to sew!  Any takers?!

Got to see my Doctor again!

And meet up with James Morris, who I originally met at Con Dor.  I have been reading his book Sky Bound and loving it!  He recently granted me an interview that I cannot wait to share with you!  Be on the look out for that and my book review in the coming weeks.

Another Wonder Con MUST was pick up the NEW Futurama comic!  The Bongo peeps even noticed and complimented me on my T!  A Futurama/Doctor Who mash up from TeeFury.

After seeing the entire floor, we headed up to room 300DE for the Falling Skies panel.  They showed us some exclusive clips from the up coming season premiere on June 9th!

Directly following Falling Skies was the Dean Koontz panel.  He wrote one of my all time favorite books Mr. Murder.  He told us stories from his life and he was quite funny!  We even got his book Odd Thomas as swag!  Can't wait to read and let you know about it!

Another highlight meeting one of my Twitter friends Pink Bunny!  Isn't she adorable!?  Her owners were also a joy and can't wait to meet up with them again at SDCC, hopefully for a longer chat!  To everyone I missed we NEED to have a HUGE meet up!  Let's get on that!

The thing we waited the longest for and were most excited about was the new DuckTales game.  It was a little over an hour wait to play, but totally worth it.  The Hunny and I were/are both HUGE DuckTales fans of the game and show so it was such a treat to get a chance to play again and get our FREE poster!

Wonder Con Wish-list 2013

This will be my very FIRST Wonder Con.  I have been to San Diego Comic Con since 2009 {see my SDCC Diaries} did Stan Lee's Comickaze last year and Con-Dor a couple weeks ago.  I am delighted to continue my con-ing adventures at Wonder Con.  Here are the things on my Wonder Con wish list:

*I have been making some great connections via Twitter since starting up my blog, so I am excited to be able to meet my new friends in "real life!"  I will be carrying my SDCC survival bag so make sure to keep a look out for me!
I also plan on wearing my Doctor Who/Futurama mash up T from Teefury.  But I am known to change my clothing choices day of {many times}.  I will keep you posted :)  But it will defiantly be a Doctor Who shirt to celebrate the premiere that night!

*Panels I have heard are WAY easier to get into than SDCC so I am excited to get to see these:
1.  Falling Skies
{Have been loving this show since the beginning}
2.  Dean Kootz
{Mr. Murder is one of my all time favorite books, would love to have him sign it}
3.  Bongo Comics
{My favorite comic is Futurama}

*I can't wait to see how the Wonder Con floor experience differs from the SDCC one. I love finding new things to nerd out about, talk to the vendors and of course sharing my experiences with you all!

I have been loving all these new con experiences I having as of late.  Can't wait to add Wonder Con to the list.
Any suggestions on things to do or see?  I only have Saturday!
