Wonder Con was amazing! I went down with High Voltage Magazine and we had our very first booth experience together! I was so happy to have a place for all of my nerdy friends to come and hangout. I was able to see so many more people that way. Plus spread the word on how amazing High Voltage Magazine is!
Saturday of Wonder Con I helped launch the LA chapter of Geek Girl Brunch with Your Friend Elle and Wrong Button Blog! What an amazing experience that was! I was and am so happy to be a part of bringing together the geek girl community! We met at a gorgeous lil restaurant around the corner from the convention center on a beautiful back patio. SoCal really is the best. It was the perfect day to sit outside, chat and enjoy a delicious brunch.
If you are in the LA area and are looking to join us please sign up on the Geek Girl Brunch website. We already have our NEXT brunch set for Saturday May 2nd. So sign up now and we will get you on the invite list!
My very first panel of the con was Her Universe {nerdy and girlie am I right?!}. I rushed over from the GGB and made it just in time and BOUNUS, I got a front row seat! That is the magic of Wonder Con. I was in a San Diego Comic Con mindset, but after that panel I knew that lines were not going to be an issue.
Her Universe creator Ashley Eckstein was as adorable as ever. She is such a great representation of fangirls! We got an exclusive sneak peak of her new line of nerd girl clothing featuring Age Of Ultron! You can pre-order it now on her site and it will hit Hot Topic stores on May 12th.
Ashley also announced that there WILL be another Her Universe fashion show at this year's San Diego Comic Con on Thursday July 9th! I have a few friends entering, good luck you all!
My second and last panel of Wonder Con was Orphan Black. This one had a bit of a queue, but I wasn't worried about getting in, the room was quite big. I was so happy when we were given some sweet swag! Orphan Black exclusive buttons that I just HAD to send to my wonderful nerd girlfriend Being Geek Chic {she is an uber fan!}
The panel showed a ton of clips of season three and it looks amazing Clone Club! The cast is so appreciative and funny in person, it was great getting to see them. I tried at SDCC but you all know SDCC. That is one of the great pluses of a smaller con.
My Saturday ended with my very first Masquerade. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it was definitely not what I saw. There were some great and lovely costumes, but after a very long two days at a con, the crowd was just a bit too much for me!
The host would let the crowd say the number of the contestant up next and the crowd decided to make that drag out longer than necessary. Saturday was my night to write for High Voltage Magazine, so I just wanted to see the costumes, hear the winner and then be able to write my article. I ended up leaving the event only ten costumes in. I was sad to miss a couple of my friends but was happy when I was in bed by 11 p.m. LOL
ONE of my favorite cosplays of the con! I squeed & made him come over to the booth!
My other favorite cosplayer of the con! Chris is THE best Sherlock...he IS Sherlock!
