Setting Goals
When I was going through my divorce, I turned to running. Not because I wanted to get in shape, but because I needed to move my body to forget my sadness. Since then I have always turned to movement to make myself feel. Today, it is happy. Every time I leave the gym or get off the thread, I feel invigorated and ready to start the day.
It is not always easy to remember that. But I try to hold on to it in the early morning hours to get myself to roll out of bed.
For My Health
Once I realized that my body can do amazing things when I put in the time and effort, my morning routine became an important place to nurture. I am always my best in the morning and when I realized that, I put all my me time and effort to support my success.
I've trained for many races, starting with the couch to 5K and working my way up to a full marathon. Today I am not only beginning the marathon training cycle again, I am working towards my first HYROX here in Denver. My brother and sister in law are coming out for the race and the excitement of doing this all together gets me out of bed each morning.
Something Other Than Myself
When I was going through my second biggest breakup, Simon entered my life. Back then I didn't have any automations to take care of him like I do today (feeder, litter box and water fountain), so we were always up with the sun together.
I've always taken a moment to cuddle with him in bed or then back then on the couch, with my coffee and journal in hand. Having him in my life and now Molly has pushed me to keep up with a morning that is not only important to me, but to them as well.
A Positive Mind Set To Begin The Work Day
And then when I sit down at my desk to start my work day I am reminded of all the good things I am working for each day. Not everyday is perfect, but it is the little things that count.
