After my first 1/2 marathon I said never again. Then I did another and then I wanted to do a marathon. I like doing hard things and I love the way running makes me feel. I went in not even thinking this was a marathon. The entire time I really was just running the mile I was in. At the starting line I started tearing up, I couldn't believe after all the hard work I had made it. WATCH my wrap up here and see below for a mile by mile replay!
Mile 1-17 - I felt so great. I went slow and steady.
Mile 15 - Friends met us and energized us! This was so exciting!
Mile 17.5 to 20 - It started to get HOT but I was still ok.
Mile 20 - Blisters started popping had do walk some down hills. Now it was full blown hot.
Mile 21-26.6 - Hot, feet kept getting worse, walked, got lost at the very last mile. But then the finish line was in sight and people were cheering. You couldn't help but smile and push through the pain.
We crossed the finish line and I wanted to do it again! My BFF and family were their cheering for us and that was a special moment.
In the end, my toes were bleeding but I was high on life, knowing that I could do better and couldn't wait to make that happen, as soon as my toe nails grew back.
