The Honeymoon: Day 4, The Embassy 🇬🇧

Appointment details: Please arrive at the U.S. Embassy in London at 8:00am on Friday, April 25th.  Please ensure that you arrive by the time stated as it is not possible for late arrivals to be admitted.

There was no way we could miss this. Paperwork gripped tightly, we walked from our hotel over into a scene right out of The Diplomat. Important guidance for attending the appointment: The appointment will take place at U.S. Embassy, 33 Nine Elms Lane, London. You will go through airport-style security screening. You must not bring laptops or bags above cabin-baggage size to your appointment as they are not permitted into the building and there are no storage facilities available. To save time, we recommend that you keep the number of small bags and belongings that you bring with you to a minimum.

With the change of administration earlier in the year, I had decided to create a shared Google Drive folder with my husband where we scanned and shared all of our most important documents. Because we had this folder, it made the process of securing an emergency passport a little less scary.

If you can obtain a U.S. passport photo, complete the application form, and print it out, we strongly recommend that you do so to save time during the appointment.  Please note, there is a photo booth at the Embassy.

When we got to the Embassy there was a HUGE line. I had a minor panic attack, but this was not our line thankfully. Since we had an appointment, we followed the guidance above and were on our way to the correct floor quickly.

From here on out my husband and I were to do things separately. We each got called to our own window, to verify the submitted the application and explain what happened. to our passports. The first window person, was nice and caring. Then we moved on to payment window, straight forward. Then we moved on to the 3rd window for even more questioning. I was called up a few times, as I had lost a passport before and they felt like they had to give me a stern and serious talking to. I didn't feel like it was the time, but I did what I had to do.

The 4th and final window was pick up. Mine took longer than my husbands and that was anxiety inducing but we were done, back to the hotel and on the road out of London to the countryside by lunch. I couldn't get out of town fast enough. The rest of the trip I constantly checked our passports location on each of our bodies.
