The Puppy Post 🐶 💖

On Sunday, February 7, 2026 my husband and I happened to drive by an adoption event at Petco in Englewood. We've never looked at dogs together, we've always joked about getting my husband dog Roxy a puppy since she is almost 14 years old. So this day for some reason it felt right to go in. And our lives changed.

We decided that day that we were not going to bring anyone home. We were just looking. But something brought us in and after looking at all the puppies we landed on a special one. We took her out of the create and held her. She was so sweet and cuddly. We left to think on it.

Straight away I started all the research on how to have a puppy. Neither my husband or I had one in our adult lives and wanted to make sure that we set up the house,  ourselves and the puppy for success. That Tuesday we put down a deposit for her and decided on a name, Molly.

After two weeks togeter, she knows sit, stay, touch, look, come, down and this morning we started working on center. She is so smart and picks up the commands easily. She is crate trained, taking 4 naps a day there and finally slept through the night with us in our own room! Success!

We had a trainer come to the house and give us a puppy lesson. She is signed up for 3 puppy classes and 4 training classes for the next 7 Saturdays. We are so excited to see her finally adjusting to our home and routine. She is such a sweet girl and we are so glad we brought her into our lives. We cannot wait for her to be able to come hiking with us and for me to have another running partner.
