7 Ways To Simplify Your 1st San Diego Comic Con

Everyone has a very first time at any con and San Diego Comic Con is no different! It can be a bit overwhelming. I hope that these seven tips can help you ease into your very first San Diego Comic Con!

1. Keep calm and carry! Let the con take you where it will. You can always have a plan but sometimes it's fun to deviate a bit. Don't get too upset about missing something. You might run into something even better! Maybe even a celebrity citing!! Keep your eyes open!
2. Take your time. SDCC is only ONCE a year! Take it all in and just enjoy it! It also might be the only vacation you get this year, hit up the pool and beach. San Diego has a LOT to offer! See my top 5 places to hang out in San Diego.
3. If you are starting to get angry/upset/frustrated take a minute, soak in the sunshine and have a snack. Your probably just Hangry! Make sure your Comic Con Survival Bag aka backpack {a MAJOR must have} is fully stocked.

4. Walk the outer aisles of the con floor and find NEW things to nerd out about. My favorites are all the book publishers. This is such a great way to find new authors/artists and support other nerds {LIKE YOU!} works. Usually these booths are WAY less crowded than the middle of the con. Here you can interact one on one with people and learn more about what they are all about.

5. Downtown is a must! Do not spend your entire SDCC inside the convention center. It took me two years to learn this and now the Gaslamp is my favorite thing about SDCC. Yes it can get as crowded as the convention center floor, but there are so many gems to be found if you look take the time to look. The Hard Rock Hotel is my FAVORITE spot to see celebrities!
6. Pick and choose what you REALLY want to do and always have a back up plan. Some of the smaller panels are JUST as fun as the BIG ones!
7. Take time to meet and talk with other nerds. That is what SDCC is really about! Making lasting connections with people who love the same things YOU do! Start chatting and making friends on Twitter NOW and you will have a built in buddy system when you finally arrive at SDCC.

I'm a first timer and I'm coming alone (from NY), is it easy to meet people and make friends in Comic-Con?
Thanks for all the tips!

It is so easy to meet people Yael. Check out Twitter and start chatting and following people. That is how I met all of my awesome SDCC friends. Every year is like a big nerd reunion!
