You Should Start The New Year Off With A Vacation

When my two best Denver girlfriends decided we should plan a girls vacation, we were lucky enough to have it fall on the beginning 2017. We would all have still been on Christmas vacation with no work days in site for the new year. January 3rd we packed up our bags and headed to Cancun and it was the best decision I've made this year. Here are 4 reasons why you should start your year off with a vacation and why you should find time to take a friends vacation as well.
1. You start the year off with a fresh head. I was so burnt out by the time December it PLUS it was my busiest month of the year. Getting ready to move in with Ocean Eyes, traveling before and after Christmas, begin sick for New Years. By the end of the year I just wanted a fresh start and time at the beach with not a great internet connection allowed me to do just that! I got away from everything and was able to just concentrate on the passing minutes with no obligations.
2. Inspiration. I traveled for the first time with friends! We had a LOT of time to talk and listen to each other and by the time the vacation was ending three days later, I was ready to go home, I was completely relaxed and I was ready to concur 2017!
3. Bonding. Like I said I had never traveled with friends before. I wasn't worried. I knew the three of us got along great. Anytime any of us needed a break, they would go walk on the beach, get a snack or just plug into their music without judgement. We were all there to relax in our own way and sometimes that means taking time for yourself.
4. Exploration. I had been to Mexico once before but never like this. Three women, alone, I have to say I was a tad bit nervous. But everything worked out great! On our second day we were able to rent a cheap car and drive three hours to Las Coloradas pink lakes! Through team work and some help from Google Maps we made it without incident to this amazing piece of nature that hardly anyone ever sees.

It was well worth the drive, just for our talks and seeing things together that we had never seen before and conquering driving through a land we had never been to. I love how brave we were and how much fun we had because of it. I hope that the rest of my year can be full of exploration.

Now that 2017 has arrived. I am officially moved in with Ocean Eyes, I am unpacked {new house tour to follow soon!} and have changed my address on all the things and today we are spending our Martin Luther King Jr day off by cleaning, organizing and shoveling snow!

I have a fresh head, full of inspiration and am ready to write, read and photograph my way through 2017! Here is to a year of inspiration, friendships and exploration! What are you all excited about in the new year? Share with me in the comments below and happy new year!

This looks amazing! Stunning photos; the colors are just so warm and beautiful. I definitely want to take a friend vacation again sometime. This year for us it's family trip time - we're headed to Costa Rica in April!
