100 Cups Of Coffee is my journey through divorce, dating and self discovery.
A little background reading and information for you all. My single life journey began a year ago, when I decided to leave my husband. I cannot believe that. It feels like yesterday and forever ago. It feels like I've been alone forever and that I've not had enough time alone.
Adult dating is hard. I hadn't ever done it before. Ever. By this time, months had gone by since I left my husband and so had the number of dates I'd been on. I was finally finding my footing and confidence. I was ready to chase after what I'd always wanted. I wasn't afraid anymore. And taking chances began to pay off.
“She stitched you up.” Tall. Blond. And when he opens his mouth, British! With a sweet smile that reaches up into his kind eyes.
Swoon.
I might have suggested to my employee at the movie theater to bring back this swoon worthy customer I had just helped. She does so with a jolly skip in her step, she lives for this sort of thing. When he actually does choose to return, I feel like I look terrible and say as such. He assures me I don’t.
Insert blush here.
We chat about films and then he must head off to his. Inspiration strikes me. I have the great idea to bring him a tea and write my number on it. I’ve never done anything like this before. My employee insists I do so, helping me deliver the tea to his seat. More sweet smiles are exchanged.
Two and a half hours pass and I’ve just heated up some pie, ready to savor my just desserts after a crazy night managing the theater's concession stand. As I begin to pour tea into my cup, I glance up into a mirror in front of me and I see his sweet smiling eyes reflected back. I spin around and smile back, hopefully just as sweet.
“Thank you for this,” he says holding and referring to the Starbucks sleeve I wrote my number on. “I leave for London in the morning. But I’ll be back in January and I’ll give you a ring then.”
Here’s hoping.
