How to Stay Zen at San Diego Comic Con

San Diego Comic Con can be a lot like Black Friday.  People have begun to line up earlier and earlier. Lines have gotten longer and longer. People have gotten more and more pushy. With my help we can all begin to chillax a bit more and make San Diego Comic Con a place known for friendliness not stabbing one in the eye with a pencil over a chair.

1. Engage your fellow nerds. This has been one of the most delightful things for me to do at SDCC. You are all waiting in long lines for long amounts of time, why not get to know each other. You at least have ONE thing in common SDCC, oh and what you are in in line waiting for that's two, a GREAT start! Swap SDCC horror stories and who you saw when and where. Don't forget to follow each other on Twitter! If you have "nerd" business cards hand those out too! I have mine!
2. Don't get hangry. This I think, is the number one reason we are all so cranky at the con! There isn't any decent food anywhere to be found inside the con, so it is imperative that you bring along your own supply. My favorite thing to get for breakfast on the way to the con is a Starbucks meal tray with cheese, crackers, apples, almonds and craisins. The protein keeps me going until lunch.

3. Repeat after me "this is fun!" You put this on yourself. You made a conscious decision to come to San Diego Comic Con. It was on your bucket list. You woke up early and beat the masses to get a badge. Remember all those who did NOT get a ticket? Think of that next time you get mad at someone for bumping into you or you didn't make it into a panel.

4. Take a time out. Go to the beach. Go to the zoo. Breath the fresh sea air. See a bit of San Diego outside the jam packed convention center. For most of you this IS a vacation.

5. When all else fails remember you could be at work.

Having nerd cards is such a great idea!! These are great tips not just for SDCC but for all comic cons, I think. I already know to pack snacks because I have been known to get hangry... and it's not pretty! Love that last tip too :)
