13 Halloween Episodes To DIE LOLing Over!

Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are such fun times of the year! But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Halloween is first and here are some of my favorite TV episodes to get you in the mood. Some are scary, some are silly and some are just plain fun!  

1. Psych - This Episode Sucks Season {S6 Ep3}. I became a huge Psych-O SDCC and this episode is one of my most favorites. Vampires and laughs!

2. Chuck - Chuck vs the Sandworm {S1 Ep6}. Chuck will always hold a special place in my heart. This show made me more nerdy! I love all the costumes and Star Wars references!

3. Castle - Vampire Weekend {S2 Ep 6}. Nathan Fillion dressed as a "space cowboy," need I say more?!

4. The Office - Halloween {S2 Ep5}. This is a show that knows how to do a Halloween episode. Funny costumes and characters. An Office classic.  

5. Dexter - Dexter {S1 Ep1}. A great place to start your Dexter journey. Great mood and set up to an amazing show.

6. Goosebumps - One Day at Horrorland {S3 Ep 6&7}. My favorite of the Goosebumps books! Now the entire series is available on Netflix.  Can you say marathon?! 

7. Community - Horror Fiction in Seven Spooky Steps {S3 Ep5}. Season three is where the show really starts to get amazing. This episode is perfect. One of my top favorites and a great way to get into this amazing show.

8. Simpsons - Treehouse of Horror: Lisa, Bart and Homer's nightmares {S2}. I find that the earlier Treehouse of Horrors are the best. Maybe because I was younger when they were beginning to come out and their scary factor was more real to me. 

9. The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. A classic that will never die!

10. The Walking Dead - Days Gone Bye {S1 Ep1}. SO happy to have this show back on, but this first episode sets up an amazing series and could be a movie all it's own.

11. Home Improvement - Haunting of the Taylor House {S2 Ep6}. Home Improvement was such a fun family show, they just don't make them like this anymore. I wish all TV shows could do Halloween episodes that last!

12. Are You Afraid of the Dark - The Tale of the Nightly Neighbors {S1 Ep8}. Where my fascination with vampires began!

13. Glee - The Rocky Horror Glee Show {S2 Ep5}. Great music and wonderful performances. I don't watch Glee anymore, but I still enjoy their music!

5 Fandom Friday: Gateway Fandoms That Made Me Who I Am Today

I have been a nerd my entire life, though that is not what I have always called it.  Not because I was afraid, but because, I was just doing what I loved.  Here are the five fandoms that made me the proud nerd I am today!

1.  Vampires.  Besides music, vampires are the first thing I remember obsessing over.  From the first time I saw an Are You Afraid of the Dark episode, to Interview With A Vampire {my favorite film} to Twilight, vampires have followed me from an early age.  I go into more depth of my love HERE.

2.  Futurama.  My next obsession came with Futurama.  I remember it airing for the first time on Fox, but it wasn't until it was a staple on Adult Swim that I began watching.  It soon became my nightly lullaby and I celebrated the release of the films and it's two time revival.  I can quote almost every episode and love dropping them into conversations!  {ps I AM wearing shorts in this picture!}

3.  Harry Potter.  I was working at a movie theater when the first film came out and hated the madness it brought.  Though I finally broke down, bought the book, watched the first film and then went straight away to buy books 2-4.  I did midnight releases for the books and movies and now have  a yearly tradition when The Hunny and I marathon the entire series during Thanksgiving.

4.  Doctor Who.  I had been told for years to watch Doctor Who.  I'm not quite sure why I never did, maybe because I was scared I wouldn't like it.  That fear was remedied quickly and as soon as series 2 rolled around I had MY Doctor and my favorite episode.  The rest is history and it is the 2nd most popular topic on my blog other than San Diego Comic Con.

5.  Anglophilia.  First Titanic.  Second The Spice Girls.  Then Harry Potter and Doctor Who then pushed me over the edge.  Enter A Silent Film and I cannot get enough of the wonderful UK!  Its telly, films, pop culture, people and music.  My trip over Christmas 2013 cemented my love for the country in my heart and I am currently saving for my return.  Watch out!

Nerdy 4 Being Human

It is one of my favorite TV shows of all time.  I am so sad for it to be over, but so happy that it had a chance to go out on top and have an amazing ending.  Here is how my love for Being Human began.

When I saw THIS^ poster in a New York subway station Christmas time 2010, it was covering one entire wall and I stopped to stare while my group walked along.  One look and I KNEW it was a show for me!  As a HUGE vampire fan, I quickly took a picture to remind me to watch it.  

Once January 17th, 2011 rolled around I persuaded The Hunny to watch along with me and we have been hooked back since!  With GREAT story lines and GREAT actors equal AWESOME show!  By the time SDCC 2011 rolled along we were primed and ready to put in the long wait and early wake up call to get into their panel.  

We ended up with nice seats in the Hilton Bayfront Hotel ballroom and the panel was well worth the wait!  The cast was funny, kind and so gracious!  I was so happy to see them in person after all those nights watching them on the show.

  

When that day was almost done, I was hanging out in front of the Hard Rock Hotel {my now go to place to see celebs during SDCC!} and the entire cast walked by!  I took a quick few shots, but nothing great.  I was waiting to meet my family when a while later, the cast walked back by and just hung out talking!  I took my chance to get a shot with Meaghan Rath.

I always feel bad bothering them, but she was super sweet and nice!  She loved that my name was Megan too :)  Then I asked if I could get a group shot and she was like sure...so my SDCC 2011 was made with the above shot!  Ps it is totally on my fridge!

My wonderful Hunny took both photos.  He was ever so sweet about me drooling over Sam Witwer!  But The Hunny was doing some drooling of his own over Sam Huntington.  I managed to convince him to grab Sam for an individual shot and The Hunny was all smiles!

Halloween 2011 I dressed up as Meaghan Rath's character Sally the ghost.  It's an easy one and comfy too for a Halloween night passing out candy.  Perfect for an Everyday Cosplay!

Being Human also has one of the best soundtracks on TV!  From the very first song they played during the pilot, I was hooked!  I had to find out who that was.  And so began my love for the musician Royal Wood.  He was the first song they played in the pilot and it was love at first listen.  I was so happy to hear that he would be featured again in the series finale and it ended up being the last song.  The first and the last, so perfect.  His vinyls are the ones I spin the most, especially while writing, I call him "swoon" music.  Now we just need to get him to come tour the US!

I was extremely happy with the series finale.  I was worried it wouldn't wrap up neatly, but I am so happy how all the characters had a happy ending.  Even with the sadness of the show ending, they were able to get some funny parts in which I think makes the show unique.  I had a huge ugly cry at the end!  I cannot remember a show that I was with from BEFORE the beginning to the EVERY end!  It was an emotional night!

WHAT ARE YOU NERDY FOR?!

Nerdy 4 Vampires

The year was 1992 & I was only 9 years old when my vampire obsession began!  Now that I look back, I can't believe I was so young, but it was all quite innocent.  The thing that started it all was a little show on Nickelodeon's late night program Snick, entitled Are You Afraid of the Dark.  The Episode was "The Tale of the Nightly Neighbors."  The story was pretty tame, good for a 9 year old. What got me was it the mystery? The charmingness of the neighbors? Whichever, I was hooked.

My next vampire memory is Interview With a Vampire {which is STILL my top favorite movie of all time to this day}.  This came out in 1994, so I am quite sure I did not see it at that time.  I do not remember my first time seeing it.  All the time they were able to live, all the things they got to see and do.  That is my biggest allure.  I tried reading the book, but after seeing the movie soooo many times, going to the book was so different.  I could not get through it, all I could imagine was the movie.  Another draw was the fashion! Is it weird that I wanted/want all of Claudia's cute lil dresses, especially {spoiler alert?!} the one she dies in, its to die for {literally!}.

Then Twilight came along.  I was living in VA and a friend of mine told me about this series she was reading.  She even gave me the 1st one as a birthday present.  I distinctly remember reading the first one so quickly that I still had birthday money left over {which is surprising as I spend as soon as I receive}  and was able to go to Borders and buy the second and third books right away.  I was even able to purchase Eclipse with Stephanie Meyer's signature in it.  I am such a hopeless romantic that I was pulled right in.

Then came True Blood.  I cannot remember if I began watching the show as it aired or bought season one when it was over.  But regardless in June of 2009 I began reading the books.  I bought one through seven and was ready for the SDCC panel in July of that same year.  I have finished up to book ten as of now {two more have come out since} and Sookie STILL hasn't wanted to turn.  That is so hard for me to get over as, if I was her, I would want to turn.  So many things you would get to see and do!  Also look young forever..sign me up :)

Next was The Vampire Diaries.  I had read the books {another friend recommendation} and was super excited for the show.  I did drop off a bit in the middle, but just finished a full marathon this summer to be ready for the SDCC panel in 2012 and the season four premiere that just aired.

My love for vampires peaked in 2010 when we were on vacation in NYC for Christmas.  On one of our many subway trips I saw a poster for a show about three roommates:  a vampire, ghost and werewolf.  My group was walking fast ahead of me and I remember pointing it out to them and saying I wanted to watch this.  I highly anticipated the premiere of the show Being Human on the SyFy network.  I even persuaded The Hunny into watching it and it is now our FAVORITE show on TV.  In 2011 we had the chance to see their SDCC panel AND get to meet them!  That was the highlight of our con!  We CANNOT wait for the return in Monday January 14th, 2013.  It will make getting through Monday a bit easier!

Just recently I began reading comics and one of my obsessions since I LOVE the movie is 30 Days of Night.  The reboot of the original comic series, is such a great way to continue on with such a great story.  It has such strong and interesting characters. They are re-releasing the original series of graphic novels just in time for Christmas {added to wish list!}.  I love the movie, it is extremely dark and scary.  I'm not usually a huge horror fan {I like the nice vamps {contradiction?!}} but the story/cinematography was so amazing that I just watch it with the lights on.  I love the RED blood against the WHITE snow {so graphic}.
