Holiday Gifting: 7 Fun Experiences Instead of Things

Every year I realize there is less I need and more I want to experience. I want to be with the people I love, see new things and get cozy and enjoy my Christmas decorations! Here are a few ideas for gift experiences we can all try this year and into the next!
1. A Winery Tour. There is a really cool urban winery here in Denver that Ocean Eyes and I love to visit. They have a tour of their facility and since it is one of our favorite places to go, I thought that a tour of the winery would be a great gift. Pick your favorite brewery or winery and your favorite person or persons and have a fun afternoon laughing and drinking great things!
2. Stay-cation. There are some really nice hotels in downtown Denver. It would be so fun to get out of the house and stay in a fancy hotel for a night! Bonus: Dress up for a fancy dinner too! You don't have to go far for a fun experience!
3. Be a tourist in your own town. Especially during the holidays! Here in Denver Union Station is all decorated with lights and trees. It would be so charming to sit at their bar, people watch and enjoy the decor. The Botanic Gardens and the Denver Zoo get into the holiday spirit too. I love visiting places that have a lot of holiday cheer. It really gets you into the season!
4. Blue Apron date night. One of my favorite things to do year round is have a dinner date night at home with Ocean Eyes. He loves to cook and I love to eat, so it is the perfect date! Usually I am his sous chef, kitchen cleaner and bartender. It is a team effort and we end up having a great meal that we made together, drinking and talking the entire time. Blue Apron comes with three meals for $60 a week. All the veggies are seasonal and there hasn't been a recipe we haven't liked. Some we loved so much we made it again! So much cheaper than going out!
5. Holiday Lights tour. Grab some hot cocoa or coffee {my favorite} and stroll or drive through your favorite neighborhoods and look at Christmas lights! On Christmas in San Diego, we would always go over to Candy Cane Lane in Point Loma. It was always the cherry on a great day, plus it is free!
6. Cookies for neighbors. My BFF Being Geek Chic loves to make Christmas cookies from her Italian family recipes. Last year we did it and it was so fun. This year we plan to do it again and I really want to give some to my neighbors. It is an easy way to brighten someone's day and to get to know the people living around you!
7. Host a holiday dinner for friends. Ocean Eyes and I are doing this very thing on Sunday! We are hosting our very first Friendsgiving! I am so excited to get out my holiday plates, napkins and welcome my friends into our home with food, music and love. Instead of presents have everyone bring their favorite dish!

I'm excited to end 2018 on a positive note. It has been a whirlwind of a year for me and I feel like 2019 is going to be more settling and I cannot wait for that. Share your favorite holiday gifts in the comments below. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season! Let's spread that cheer!

I love these ideas and the whole "experience" as gift thing. Last year for xmas, my friends and I all decided to go to Disneyland together instead of getting each other gifts, and it was SO FUN.

Have a great Friendsgiving this weekend! xoxo
