Nerd Crafts: TARDIS Shoes

Thanks to Pinterest I found THIS awesome DIY project!  Doctor Who TARDIS shoes!!  These were so simple to make and quite cheap!  

I was lucky enough to find these shoes at Target on sale for $5!  

Supplies:

*TARDIS blue shoes

*Black Sharpie

*White Sharpie

*White Acrylic Paint

*Paintbrush

Step one:  I had the picture of the shoes I pinned {LINK again}.  Then I used a pencil to trace out how I wanted the TARDIS to look.

Step two:  I went back over the pencil {once I had it how I wanted it} with the black Sharpie.

Step three:  With the black sharpie I colored in the phone box sign area.  Painted with white acrylic paint the windows.  Let dry for a good long time, did a second coat, let dry again, then add on the lines for the windows.

Step four:  I drew in the Police Box Public Call in white sharpie.  This took MANY times going back over and over until I got my desired whiteness.  Maybe six or seven.  It will be worth it in the long run.

Total cost for me was only $5 for the shoes and $5.50 for the white sharpie marker.  We already had the black sharpie, white acrylic paint and paintbrush.  If you do have to buy any of these products, especially the white acrylic you can get the smallest tube. It did not take much to paint the shoes.  You can always get a 40% off coupon on Michael's website or in the paper.

For extra safety I sprayed the shoes {when done and totally dry} with the waterproof shoe spray.

The shoes got their public debut at Phoenix Comic Con!  I can't wait to show them off next at San Diego Comic Con!
