The Nerdy Girlie Team at Denver Comic Con

2/3 of the Nerdy Girly team was able to attend Denver Comic Con at the Colorado Convention Center this year and we had a blast.  We went on Sunday; the lines were organized and the volunteer staff was knowledgeable and helpful.

First thing upon entry we went right to the Celebrity Summit area so that The Gamer Geek could get in line to meet Felicia Day – aka his lady love.  I think she’s every geek guys dream girl and he’s no different.  The wait wasn’t too long and he had brought a Geek & Sundry pin that The Nerdy Girlie had picked up from another Con – she autographed it and told him about the Geek & Sundry party at SDCC.
There’s the Gamer Geek with his signed pin from Felicia Day – Con made!

The exhibit hall was full of artists and vendors.  So much nerd awesomeness!  The real star of any Con, in my opinion, is the cosplay and the people you meet.  I got compliments on the Firefly/Serenity t-shirt I was wearing – it’s funny how you instantly bond with someone who loves the same fandom.  We saw more Doctor Who’s than I could count and a Dr. Horrible here and there.  My favorite cosplayers were a little boy with a homemade Transformer costume and a gentleman that embodied Wolverine.
Transformers…
More than meets the eye!
Just chillin’ with Wolverine

There were panels galore and the highlight for Sunday would be a panel and appearance by William Shatner – he saved the day after Stan Lee had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict.  There were panels with George Takei, Wil Wheaton, Felicia Day, and many more artists and voice actors.  There was also Sci-Fi Speed Dating sessions, a Rock Band stage, and lots of parties and events going on outside of the Con, too.  There really was something for everyone.
Most of all it was just a great family day – a day to be silly and celebrate the fandoms that bring you together.
