What Purchasing a Louis Vuitton Purse has Taught Me

Why a Louis Vuitton purse? It has always been a simple answer for me. I remember seeing my Aunt Sheryl carry her's when I was little. She always had an air of confidence. Her own career. She was her own person. And ALWAYS laughing and happy.

Birthday lunch after purse shopping.

These are things I've strived to be since I lost her in 2014. I could never find the purse that I remember her having and so instead I want to buy one in her honor. We LOVED talking purses and shopping together. For my birthday one year we went to Nordstroms and she bought me the Marc Jacobs purse you see pictured above.

I've never bought a car. Or a house. So saving up and knowing that I could afford this purse was important to me along with these other important points:

1. #treatyoself. I haven't been working full time for that long, but after all the craziness that I've been through since I lost Aunt Sheryl, I think I deserve it!

2. Working hard. It has been almost three years that I've been on my own financially. In that time, I've learned the value of working hard and the joy that comes out of accomplishing something that you can be proud of! Like they say, hard work pays off!

3. Memories. Every time I carry this purse I will think of Aunt Sheryl and be reminded of the women she was and inspires me to be. ALSO I've got a new job, a raise and have limited my monthly bills to the bare minimum. I think that is something worth celebrating!
4. Empowerment. Let's be real, these purses are EXPENSIVE. So knowing that I worked hard, saved hard and was able to walk in there {well purchase online and pick up in the store! LOL} and finally have my dream purse. That is empowering to me!

5. Money management. It's been YEARS that I've been dreaming of this purse. Almost my entire life. BUT like I just said, they are expensive. And now that I'm financially responsible for myself. I've learned to budget, save and make sure that I'm taken care of, before making a significant purchase like this.
6. Legacy. Louis Vuitton has been around for over 100 years, so as we can see it isn't going anywhere. Bloggers carry them, business women carry them and everyone in between. I'm happy to be apart of something that has stood the test of time and will be able to be my go to purse for the rest of my life.

Is there anything in your life that you've saved up for? That has significance behind the purchase, big or small? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below! Now to save up for a new car!

Love the new purse! I'll always remember getting my first LV bag too<3 But I think my most fun big purchase was my first pair of Manolo's! I had been OBSESSED with Sex and the City and I went to FIT for college. During my first semester (when I was also working full time), my friend Alex and I teamed up to do a project on Manolo and we visited the boutique together and he convinced me that I couldn't leave without this perfect black velvet pair. Every time I look at them, I still remember that day and the excitement behind the purchase!
