Comikaze 2014!

This was my third year at Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo and each year just keeps getting better and better.  {1st Year, 2nd Year}.  Since San Diego Comic Con ended and I moved to LA, I haven't seen a lot of my nerd friends in real life.  As I've said before, that is always my favorite thing about going to a con and I wasn't disappointed this year.

Friday
Comikaze didn't open until the afternoon, so I was able to get some work in and debate over my choice of costume before heading over to the con.  Badge pick up for press was super easy and soon I was inside on the con floor.

I headed straight to meet one of my friends Anne from House of Darkly and see all of her delicious creations!
Shortly after I had a nice mini SDCC reunion with GB Reviews, Cyberag and Kim from The Nerd Element!  We all chatted and walked the floor together, stopping for a must have shot of me in front of a Delorean!

What I love about con's are the community and around every corner you never know who you are going to see.  When I went into my first panel of the day Disney Fandom, my friend Chelsea from High Voltage Magazine was there!
Disney social media personalities {L to R} Traci Hines, David Rubilar, Charis Lincoln, Hali Ducote, Andrew Decote and Leo Camacho.

If you LOVE Disney this was the place for you!  All of the panelists shared amazing Disney stories, from working there, to how Disneybounding came to be and how Disney has touched their lives.  You know the feeling you have when you go to Disneyland?  That is how the panelist made the room feel.  It was a lovely time sharing the Dis-nerd love!
My last stop of the day was the children's cosplay contest on the Hot Topic Main Stage.  The first group, the first costume that walked out I KNEW had to be the winner!  Dressed in a homemade Bender outfit, my pick didn't even make it to the next round!  Now you all know how much I love Futurama, I was crushed.  So I ran over and had to tell him and his mom {dressed as Leela!} just how amazing his costume was and that he was the real winner!

End day one!

Saturday
Friday was a nice way to ease into the con, come Saturday that was gone and replaced by the masses!  My good San Diego nerd girl friend Brooke drove up to attend with The Hunny and I.  She and I planned to do a lil group cosplay:  The 11th Doctor and Amy Pond.  It was so fun!  We had to get both of their badges and the public line went smooth and fast!

I ended up running into Your Friend Elle who was headed to the John Barrowman panel, like we were.  I had never been to one of John's panels and I was very excited about it.  We got great seats for only arriving 30 minutes before hand.  I love that he and his sister Carole right away took fan questions and that was the entire panel.  They are such great personalities and story tellers that the hour flew by!
The BEST Snape ever!

The other thing I REALLY wanted to do this con was see Doctor Who Live!  Doctor Who Live is an improvised episode of Doctor Who...live.  In the beginning the cast takes suggestions from the audience and uses those suggestions {Fluffy Monster} to create an hour long Doctor Who episode on the spot and to never be repeated again!

I was nervous when we arrived that we wouldn't get it {that is how popular it is}, but The Hunny who is an amazing seat hopper, ended up getting the three of us seats in the second row!  The show is based here in LA and plays two times a month.  I would definitely love to go see them again!
Saturday had some amazing cosplay groups including this Guardian's of the Galaxy team!

And with that MY Comikaze adventure ended.  I was unable to attend on Sunday, but had so much fun on the days that I did attend.  Though Comikaze has gotten big enough now that I still didn't get to see all my nerd friends due to the crowds, it is nice to see that in it's 4th year it has grown into something that people will to travel to LA for.
30th Anniversary Tetris World Record attempt.

It looks like so much fun, my Dad has mentioned going a few times (being the big Stan Lee fans we are) so we're thinking possibly next year depending on if I can get tickets for SDCC next year or not...
